Money sucks!
I've never asked my ex for much of anything because I knew I wouldn't get much. Just to stay away from us if he wanted to be into drugs and violence because I didn't want it for my daughters. Now they are struggling with the economy and are grown but working part time and scraping by on their own and he reaches out to them out of guilt. So I swallow my pride and call him and say if he means to help then a little money would go a long way. I said no amount-just any little bit will help. Well he was to get some sort of "stimulus" payment which the state of California intercepted since his past due support to me has a bill of over $150,000 (none of my doing, that was court ordered at $338 a month for child support in the 1980's which he never paid-isn't interest and penalty a bitch) and so the "stimulus" payment didn't get to him. His response "I guess I can't afford to send you anything because Child Support blah blah blah..." well that isn't true. The State of California cannot touch his money unless they have a) his current address and b) his source of income is from employment services (like working, or unemployment benefits, or disability also thru employment) so as he is ill and getting Federal Funding Disability that is non-garnishable. So there will be no money taken from him. So our reaching out for a pitiful few dollars when he offered to help apparently is too much to ask for since he didn't get his "stimulus" check. Here's to hoping that there are more "stimulus" checks to come that I can give to my daughters. Money sucks!!!
